Rawbots
Rawbots is a very promising robot sandbox game with huge(!) potential. You basically build and program your very own robots from many parts and play around with them (sandbox style only… there are no goals at the moment).
However in it’s current form it is not very easy to build a working robot without investing much time. I have tried to build a decent robot but unfortunately the game has currently a very steep learning curve and thus my robot was… well let’s say it was “unfunctional”.
Anyway…
I have spoken to the devs and they said that they will make the game much more accessible by making the robot creation aspect much easier and adding pre-built robots, easy tutorials and more. I’m definitely looking forward to the next builds since this game has massive potential!
While it’s not easy some people are already creating really interesting (and working) robots. Here are three of them: Bug, Jet and a Harley!
Robot crafting is at the center of the experience. Every experience thereafter is pure emergence. We will provide the foundations and building blocks that will allow infinite possibilities. FPS, CTF, RTS and other gameplay styles will all be possible, through creative use of building blocks, visual programming and general game rules.
Everything is a robot, doors, roads, walls, bridges, safes, traps, turrets, surveillance systems, etc. Build forts, towers and architect impressive structures to protect your planets and resources. You may play solo or with friends to infiltrate, conquer planets and gather resources.”
Humans Must Answer
Humans Must Answer is a really promising horizontal shmup with fine visuals and fun looking gameplay that features a nice selection of weapons: lightning gun, machine gun, shotgun, canons and the support weapons… Consider to watch the devlog video that explains the various weapons and then try out the demo.
Ultratron
Ultratron is a fantastic arena shooter by Puppygames (the developers of Revenge of the Titans, Droid Assault and Titan Attacks).
Highly recommended!
Unique retro-futuristic sound and graphics, player responsive difficulty, and a subtle system of tactics combined with classic gameplay make Ultratron a fun and hypnotic arcade blast.”
Scoregasm
Scoregasm is one of the best arena shooters I have ever played (and I have played a lot of them). The game was over 2 years in development and it really shows: Smooth controls, super fun gameplay, colorful graphics, a great variety of levels and well thought out bullet patterns.
A defnite must have for shooter fans!
Hydorah
Hydorah is an awesome and faithful loveletter to the horiztonal shooter genre.
The amount of polish, details and love putted into this game is just astounding. This is definitely some game of the year material right here!
If it would have been released in the 90s it surely would have been a big hit.
Without a doubt one of the most polished freeware games ever… (with fantasitc music from Gryzor87)
Now do yourself a favour and download this gem to breathe some classic shoot em up air!
I’ve also recorded a video so you can see how the first 10 minutes of the game look like.
The developer Locomalito about the game: “Hydorah is a game designed for classic shoot em up players, who still love clean designs and challenging adventures”
- Better display
- Much better color balancing (now you can actually see the background)
- A few configuration options for joystick buttons and display
- Fixed some problems with the scoring system (to avoid score milking)
- 5 saves to start (instead of 3)
- And a bunch of small fixes and changes
