Pocket Dimensional Clash

Pocket Dimensional Clash is a very promising and faithful beat em up that features many different characters (e.g. Mega Man, M. Bison and Hulk). In the current beta you can already play 6 normal seized characters and 7 (bigger) special characters. If you wonder how it looks like when Hulk is finishing a forklift truck then i recommend to watch the Gameplay Video. The Video shows also all the other characters briefly. The graphical style of the characters is mainly influenced by SNK vs Capcom: The Match of the Millenium (NeoGeo Pocket Color). A very nice project with lots of charme.

Smash Bros (Fan Game)

Smash Bros (Fan Game) is a nice tribute to the same titled fighting series.
The game offers good potential thanks to the smooth engine and the overall good playability.
It’s an early Demo therefore don’t be turned off by the current graphical situation.
I assume that the graphics will be improved in further releases.

I also recommend to check out Super Smash Bros. NES and Indie Brawl.

Super Vampire Ninja Zero

Super Vampire Ninja Zero is a very nice beat em up in which you control a female ninja.
The game has very nice graphics, animations, combos and overall good gameplay.
A few things that would increase the fun: Having collectibles like food and weapons and more effects when enemies are attacked…Maybe some blood ;)

This free version offers:

Normal Mode, where you must defeat a finite sequence of enemies.
Time Attack, where you must survive enemy waves for 5 minutes.
Coop Survival, where you team up with an AI controlled character. The game ends when you or your partner bites the dust.
Practice, where non aggressive enemies will spawn endlessly.
Enemy Test, where you play as any one of the enemies :)

Note:
Also very nice is that this game “[...]has been ported to the XO computer from OLPC (One Laptop Per Child + Wiki) that was given for free in the public education in 100% of Uruguay (400.000 computers). So, potentially, this could be the first action game that children of undeveloped countries would play ! I think this could incentivate game development at least for the countries adopted OLPC.
The game was done independently for this reason among others, appart from the fact that we are seeking publishing to develop the games for many commercial platforms.[...]”

Pesky Plumber

Pesky Plumber is a great looking and promising beat em up project with characters from the Mario universe. The screens are currently just mock ups but as you can see in the development thread the creator made also some awesome looking sprite sheets. If this game should be available someday chances are very high that it will be very good.

Moreover:
I recommend to check out Mushroom Kingdom Fusion if you haven’t already.
It’s really good.

Ultimate Fight

Ultimate Fight is a promising fast paced beat em up with a damn smooth engine.
You have to see the game in action to understand its quality.
The game is from the same developer who is also working on the interesting platformer Yukiwo.

Controls:
Player 1
WASD – Movement
TYGH – Attack

Player 2
Cursor Keys – Movement
JKNM – Attack

CTRL + Space – Restart Level
F1 – View the readme with special combo moveset
(But i couldn’t figure out how they should work)

From the homepage:
Ultimate Fight isn’t my first attempt at a fighting game. I always wind up with a glitch so annoying I have to quit, but not this time. I’ve actually completed the first stage of the game. The main fighting engine is almost complete. Don’t expect to only see the characters from the King Of Fighters and Street Fighter series either. Other characters are just going to get thrown in there.

Bullets Of A Revolver

Bullets Of A Revolver is a beat em up based on the engine of Duel Toys 2 which will be released soon.
The game has beside the normal 1 on 1 fights also different action events as you can see from the video.
Since the game was beeing made within a month and there wasn’t any development thread or something i didn’t know of its existence until it was released a few days ago.

Indie Brawl

Indie Brawl is an awesome and ambitious multiplayer beat em up with characters from various indie games.
The game is a TIGSource Community project and since July 2008 in development.

The current version features 4 completed characters:

Naija (Aquaria)
The Golden Knight (Bonesaw)
Liero (Liero)
Iji (Iji)

and 3 different levels:

Cube Sector (Lyle in Cube Sector)
Death Worm Dessert (Deathworm)
Bonesaw Hills (Bonesaw)

The game can be played with up to 4 human players (2 keyboard + 2 gamepads) and 4 additional AI controlled characters. (no AI in current version)

Duel Toys 2

Duel Toys 2 is a fine looking beat em up which features 60+ different well known characters from various games / comics / movies.
The game is not only about fighting… It also offers a dose of RPG mechanics: Before you get into a fight you have to walk around and find an opponent.
In order to see all the characters i recommend to visit the Homepage where every character is showed.

Card Sagas Wars

Card Sagas Wars is an impressive looking beat em up with a 4 player mode like in the Super Smash Bros Series.

The game features characters from many different game universes and well… it just looks awesome!
Watch the gameplay videos to be convinced that this is an extremely promising beat em up!
