Psycho Waluigi is a promising platformer in which you play Waluigi who has psychic powers. (You can grab and throw anything like bricks, coins and enemies…and then use the abilities of the enemies)
As you can see from the gameplay video this fangame looks very polished and well thought out…
The current demo includes 4 levels.
The Developer about…
…the game:
Psycho Waluigi is a platformer – at first glance, it would seem like your average Mario game, what with the pipes, blocks to smash, enemies to stomp and coins to collect… but the similarities more or less end there. See, I am attempting to take the concept of fangaming in a more creative direction, and this little game is the result.
…the mechanics:
The gimmick? Waluigi has psychic powers. And he wants to use them to take over the world. And it’s up to you to help him achieve that goal! …Yeah, kinda dark for a Mario game, but I still say Super Paper Mario is even darker, heh. ;B
Using his newfound psychic powers, Waluigi can grab and throw anything as a weapon from bricks, to coins, to enemies – some enemies can be “mind controlled.” Basically, you’re forcing them to use their abilities against other enemies – like Kirby, in a sense.
…the origin
This is my dream fangame – and I mean that in the most literal sense possible. One night a couple of years ago, I had a dream where I made… this game. The whole concept of Waluigi having psychic powers, along with the very gameplay mechanics… it was all very clear. And thus, I had to take it on over to the realm of the conscious.
…the progress:
Progress is coming along nicely. In theory, I could release a demo any time, but… you just might have to wait. Blame the kindly folks who made NCFC. ;P Though I may release one before then if I feel like it, if the demand is high enough, and if I receive cake (get cookin’ peeps. ;p). Dunno how long the game will take to complete, but expect it sooner than forever, hah! I’m planning on… maybe thirty-something levels (they’re pretty big and each one unique). I have a few done already and they seem to be piling up rapidly, so… wooo.
Billiant. This game is pure genius!
How this gameplay trailer ends ranks up there with the greatest endings of the greatest movies in the history of mankind. That is all.
I like the concept. What I don’t like, however, is Waluigi. It’s not that I dislike his sprite, but rather, I don’t want the game to be about him. There’s too much potential here for a mere fangame; I want some original characters of your own in this game instead of a Nintendo mascot, no matter how overlooked he is.
Same as Dr. Manic. A very cool concept, but it will be more cool if the game is completely original. Why Waluigi? Why?
Countdown until cease and desist from Nintendo.
Looks good though; Too bad for the Waluigi thing, as has already been said.
I don’t care about Waluigi. Most important is the gameplay. All other things are just bonus. Continue the good work!:)
Seriously, previous posters about Waluigi, do you play/buy games because of their main character?
???
A good game is a good game for heaven’s sake :D
Anyway, this game looks like fun, yes!
I was just gonna ask, why all the character hate? Who are you more familiar with any way? Psycho Jackie in Wonderland or Waluigi? Looks very good though. I’m thinking of doing something similiar in my game as well. Good luck to ya!
And I wouldn’t wait for that countdown. It’s freeware fangame anyway.
There’s an enormous Nintendo fangame community, and Nintendo seems to leave them well alone, unlike other companies. They’re generally more preoccupied with being hilariously rich than stamping on their most dedicated fans.
Hell, just check out the Mario Fangames Galaxy here – http://www.mfgg.net/
But I prefer an original character than Waluigi. I don’t hate the character, but that’s a very good concept to simply put a Nintendo character.
awesome game man. I don’t care about what the previous posters on here said, Waluigi rocks and if this the closest I can get to playing a game with just him in it, so be it. He needs his own game afterall. love the concept to by the way, keep up the good work. :)
