Neva is a futuristic hybrid between an action platformer and an action puzzler.
Each time when you have completed the platforming stage (in which you jump, fly, fight and run) you get to the puzzle segment. In the puzzle stage you have to hit the right buttons at the right time…
To understand the gameplay mechanics i highly recommend to play through the tutorial before you start the game.
The game has overall great production values and features really nice animations, futuristic graphics with fine effects, an original soundtrack, nice cut scenes which drives the story further and a nostalgic HUD which reminds of the good old Amiga days.
Note:
I recorded also a 10 min Gameplay Video…the actual Game starts at 1:02 min.
From the homepage:

While I’m not terribly impressed by the overall gameplay presented in the trailer, the game looks to have way above-average production values not only for a freeware indie game but for a 2D game in general. I’m quite humbled and inspired by certain subtle effect and animations. The old-school Amiga-esque hud is an awesome touch too.
wow cyberpunky. crazy effects and style!
The game looks really good, though i’m a bit confused on what is going on in the video.
If Don Bluth worked on a 2D platformer.
The only thing that irks me is the main character looks a little stiff in some animations. Other than that, looks fun and absolutely stunning.
Nice animations !
Not too impressed by the gameplay too.
The storyline is intriguing.
I can’t tell what’s happening in this trailer, but I can tell that it’s awesome.
The sound effects / voice acting need a lot of work, that jumping sound was awfully annoying.
Other than that, wow. I’m amazed. Can’t wait for this.
Not really sure what’s going on but it looks pretty interesting!
as of the video update #1 I’m getting more interested but the main character is hideous. that hair is just atrocious.
Well, I’m playing NEVA those days and I guess it’s a great game, a lot of work on it, I see!
I liked the idea too, very expansive! Great graphic, animations and sounds!
The music tracks are alwais well connected with the situation you are!
Good point, I’m still playing the game.
Good job btw, you’ve maded a very good game and I’ll talk with my friends, asking to play it!
Bye
I can’t figure out the menu controls. When I start the game and try to choose a language the only keyboard button that seems to do anything is the Esc button.
@Tim
Do you have a gamepad plugged in? If so the keyboard doesn’t respond…
Otherwise try Z or Y.
